A broken heart can be worse than any physical pain we can endure. You can’t take a pill for it and hope the pain subsides. Instead, it is there constantly nagging at your head and tying all of your emotions into knots all the time. It’s all you can think about and you aren’t even sure how you can function normally every again. Everyone has been through the pain of a broken heart and we understand it is not easy to endure, get over, and move past. Know that you are not alone in your pain. But you can shift the pain to your advantage which can give you hope.
Stop procrastinating
Procrastinating makes us feel bad about ourselves period. You’ve been wanting to start your diet and exercise plan for years now, but you’ve been so tied up with another person that you haven’t. Been meaning to clean out your closet and donate old things? Do it now.
Now is the time to stop making excuses and start doing what makes you happy. This gives you a sense of accomplishment and growth. It will begin to re-shape your thoughts and allow you the chance to be proud of yourself while you are healing.
Do something bold
A change in your hair color can be a huge self confidence boost. Moving to a new house or apartment can shift your entire mindset into a new you. Treating yourself to that expensive handbag you’ve been wanting for months now, go get it. That job you want or that business you want to start, now is the time!
Taking bold action during this tough time, not only gives you a new sense of purpose, but it helps you to keep your mind occupied. Time of heartache tends to consume your mind. Doing something drastic can be just the medicine the doctor ordered for you in finding a new sense of purpose.
Absorb positive information
Sometimes social media can literally drain your brain space, and right now you need positive influence and not negative ones. Books, podcasts, spiritual leaders you love, YouTube Videos, are all great pieces of information that you can fill your mind with instead of negativity.
Even audio books and tv shows that lift your mood are important things for you to make the time to absorb. Get hooked on a Netflix series that takes you away from reality for awhile can be an uplifting resource you can utilize during your time of healing and pain. Find some that make you laugh!
Be patient with yourself
You may so hard on yourself that you feel like you should already be over it and you should be feeling better already. But the reality is, that you have to cut yourself some slack. Don’t get into your head so much that you start questioning your timing or healing process. Your journey is yours and yours alone.
It’s going to take some time, so accept that. Cut yourself some slack and understand that its ok and actually healthy to go through the stages of grief at your own pace. You may need more time than you think you do, and its ok. You can’t compare your grief to someone else’s so don’t event try to get into that mental trap.
